These are some sites my friends and I have visited over the years and either like or dislike

These are not adverts for sites you cannot book them via this website

You can, however, use the links provided or telephone the sites direct

You may not like these caravan sites as everyone's personal preferences are not the same. So please check them out yourself and don’t just take our word for it for them

Chatsworth Park Caravan Club Site

This is a real gem of a site. Set in what was once a walled garden very cleaver use has been made of the space available. You are surrounded by mature trees which, as well as the wall, shields the site from outside view.

There are three types of pitches. Super-with all facilities on pitch including toilet disposal, and a paved, hard surface. All weather with granite chips-useful considering the Derbyshire wet season! and finally there are a small number of grass pitches which I reckon will be phased out because of the damage caused by awnings on this very busy site. I am not convinced that the £2 extra charged for the Super Pitches is worth while because the all weather pitches seemed more spacious, but you pays your money etc.

The heated toilet is to the usual very high CC standards. For those that want it there is also a television booster system at 55p a night but you must provide your own 25m cable.

Non members are admitted.

When you pay at reception you are loaned a key which unlocks a gate which takes you out in the estate.

It is only a short walk to Chatsworth House - a small discount is given on production of your site fee receipt. Site reception sell a useful little map that     details walks on the estate.

For serious shopping there is a Morrisons supermarket on the road into Chesterfield about 10 miles from the site.

Fishing

Fishing is not available on site but nearby once you are out of Chatsworth Estate there can be fishing had on day ticket in Matlock and Matlock bath

There is fishing in Bakewell if you are prepared to go on a waiting list and pay a lot of money for the privilege of trout fishing there last I heard there was a 5 year wait !

IF you feel like torturing yourself there is some nice shopping in Bakewell and you can walk by the river watching all the trout and most of them are 7-10lb’s
